Navy's win over Notre Dame ranked as
the fifth biggest news story
1/1/08: Capt. Klein, the Commandant of Midshipmen,

triple-overtime victory over storied Notre Dame on Nov. 3. The
Midshipmen had snapped an NCAA-record 43-game losing streak to
the Fighting Irish and that monumental victory would be among
the most notable of the entire college season.

New twist in Naval Academy abuse cases
1/5/08:
After years of highly publicized incidents of Midshipmen
sexually abusing classmates, the Naval Academy appears to have
turned a corner with a prevention and education program that has
been held up as a model for other universities to emulate.
Studies, including one released Dec. 2007 by the Defense
Department, show that misconduct incidents have dropped at the
academy and an insidious macho culture is giving way to more
tolerance and self-policing.

Blue & Gold Officers needed
1/9/08: Craig Walker, Area Blue & Gold
Coordinator, is in need of BGOs (Blue & Gold Officers),
particularly in the northern and northwestern part of the state.
Parents of Mids/USNA grads are often the best advocates for the
Naval Academy and make great BGOs.
On average, BGOs have four candidates a year, which equates to
less than 20 hours of time in a year. A one-week training
session at USNA is required within two years of becoming a BGO.
USNA pays all expenses. If interested, contact
Craig Walker, who
will forward an application.
